Kwame N. Acquah, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in Ghana and Executive Secretary of the Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana (HCCGH), has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) with an overwhelming 39 out of 43 country votes at the 14th World Congress of Consuls held in Marrakech, Morocco, from October 29 to November 1, 2025.
The Congress convened nearly 200 delegates representing more than 45 Consular Corps or Associations from FICAC’s 100 member-states, underscoring the global reach and diplomatic importance of the event.
Ghana was well represented by a distinguished delegation of the HCCGH, led by Dimitrios Avraam (Dean of the HCCGH and Honorary Consul General of Belgium including the Honorary Consuls of Cabo Verde (Felix Gomis), Jamaica (Okatakyie B. D Ababio), Luxembourg (Edmond Boateng), Mexico (Subhi Accad), Seychelles (K Acquah), and Trinidad & Tobago (John Mitchell).
This marks Ghana’s second consecutive term on the prestigious international body, affirming the country’s growing influence in global consular affairs.
The decisive 91% approval rate underscores the international community’s strong confidence in his leadership and Ghana’s diplomatic excellence.
“This re-election with such overwhelming support is a testament to Ghana’s active role in the global consular community and our commitment to fostering international cooperation.
“Receiving 39 votes out of 43 countries is deeply humbling and reflects the trust that the international community has placed in Ghana’s diplomatic leadership,” said Kwame N. Acquah.
Throughout his tenure as Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Ghana since June 2016, Acquah has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have strengthened Ghana-Seychelles relations, including the recent signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding between both nations in education, tourism, culture, fisheries, and health sectors during the November 2024 State Visit by H.E. Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles.
As a Board member alongside President Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos and Vice-President Asif A. Chowdhury (both re-elected unopposed for the 2025-2028 term), Acquah will continue to advocate for enhanced consular services and facilitate international dialogue.
