Peruvian cuisine took center stage in Accra on Thursday as the Embassy of Peru in Ghana partnered with the Accra Chapter of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international association of gastronomy to host a special culinary evening celebrating Peru’s food, culture, and diplomacy.

Held at the Villa Monticello Boutique Hotel, the event — themed “An Evening Honouring Peru: Its Cuisine, Culture, and Diplomacy” — brought together chefs, hospitality leaders, and food enthusiasts to explore the flavours and traditions that have made Peru a global culinary powerhouse.

Peru’s Ambassador to Ghana, Rosa Liliana Gómez Cárdenas de Weston, highlighted her country’s growing reputation in fine dining, citing the international success of award-winning Peruvian restaurants such as Maido and Central in Lima.
“Peruvian cuisine stands out because it blends ancient tradition with modern creativity,” the Ambassador said. “Pisco, our national spirit, is a symbol of this evolution — linking the past with the present.”
Guests were treated to a live pisco masterclass and a ceviche demonstration, followed by a tasting menu featuring classic Peruvian dishes such as anticuchos, empanadas, lomo saltado, and locro maduro, paired with pisco-based cocktails.

Head of Mission for the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs in Ghana, John Maddison, said the collaboration reflects the organisation’s goal of promoting cultural exchange through gastronomy.
“Food connects people and nations,” he noted. “This partnership with the Embassy of Peru celebrates culinary artistry and global friendship.”

Maddison also announced that the Chaîne’s Accra Chapter will host an international three-day event in 2026 at the Kempinski Hotel, expected to attract members from around the world.
Founded from a 13th-century French royal guild, the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is now the world’s largest gastronomic society, dedicated to preserving culinary traditions and promoting excellence in fine dining.
