Former workers of the Bogoso–Prestea Mine on Wednesday, December 10, picketed at the forecourt of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to demand the payment of their outstanding entitlements following the takeover of the mine by Heath Goldfields.
According to the aggrieved workers, more than 400 employees were laid off after the company changed hands from Blue Gold FGR in 2024.
They lamented that despite the mass retrenchment, management failed to settle their benefits and accumulated arrears.
The group insists that the government and the new operators must intervene to ensure they receive all outstanding payments owed them before their dismissal, calling for the immediate release of their benefits, stressing that the delay has worsened their economic hardships.
