The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has graduated 484 young people from a practical skills training programme in the Atebubu Amantin Municipality of the Bono East Region as part of efforts to promote sustainable entrepreneurship and youth employment.

The programme, held at the forecourt of the Business Resource Centre in Atebubu, equipped participants with hands-on skills in trades including welding, refrigeration, motor and bicycle repair, general electrical works, plumbing, soap making and barbering.

The training was delivered under the Agriculture (AA3E) and Agribusiness to Entrepreneurship (A2E) components of the Business in A Box (BizBox) Project, which is being implemented by the Ghana Enterprises Agency in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

The BizBox Project aims to create dignified jobs for 250,000 Ghanaian youth by 2027, with a target of 70 per cent women and 10 per cent persons with disabilities.

At the graduation ceremony, each beneficiary received a start-up kit tailored to their area of training to enable them to establish viable businesses and contribute to economic growth within their communities.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Margaret Ansei, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to nurturing young entrepreneurs, stressing the importance of gender equality and increased youth participation in practical skills training programmes.

She urged the graduates to make productive use of the start-up kits provided and to manage their resources responsibly to ensure the sustainability of their businesses.

The Atebubu Amantin Municipal Director of the Business Resource Centre, Mr Isaac Oppong, expressed appreciation to the Ghana Enterprises Agency for empowering young people in the municipality through skills development and entrepreneurship support.

One of the beneficiaries, Madam Charity Kwaah, thanked the agency for the opportunity and pledged to put the support received to good use.

The BizBox Project forms part of the Ghana Enterprises Agency’s broader strategy to transform micro, small and medium enterprises, while driving job creation and inclusive economic growth across the country.
