The stage is set for an electrifying 2026 FIFA World Cup after Friday’s draw in the United States produced mouthwatering matchups across all 12 groups.
With the expanded 48-team format debuting next year, nations from every confederation discovered their paths to the knockout stage — including Ghana, who were drawn in a challenging but promising Group L.
The draw ceremony, held on Friday, December 5, delivered drama, excitement and plenty of talking points as global football powers and rising nations were paired for the group phase across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Ghana Drawn in Group L
Ghana will face England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L — a group that promises intensity and high stakes.
The Black Stars’ clash with England is already being touted as one of the standout fixtures of the group stage, as the two sides will meet at a World Cup for the first time. Ghana will also come up against Croatia, the 2018 finalists and 2022 semifinalists known for their technical style and tournament pedigree. Panama, physical and disciplined, round out the group as a side capable of springing surprises.
For Ghana, this represents both a test and an opportunity, as the team looks to return to the knockout rounds after missing out in 2022.
