I won’t present corruption evidence to OSP subordinates – Kpebu

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu says he will not submit evidence supporting his corruption allegations against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to officers of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), arguing that such evidence can only be presented to an independent body.

Speaking to Selorm Adonoo on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, December 6, Mr. Kpebu said his refusal to provide evidence to OSP investigators triggered his invitation to the Office and the subsequent confrontation involving a military officer, which led to his arrest and detention.

According to him, it would be improper to hand over evidence to officials who report directly to the same person he has accused.

He noted that after making public allegations of corruption against Mr. Agyebeng, the OSP summoned him for questioning, but he would not cooperate if the intention was for him to present evidence to the Special Prosecutor’s subordinates.

Mr. Kpebu said he had already made his stance clear to the OSP and considered his engagement with the institution concluded unless an independent body was set up.

“It has ended. I’m not going there again if it’s about presenting evidence. There’s no law that states that I must present my evidence to subordinates. I made it clear to them, and the matter was closed. If a board is constituted and the board invites me, I will go,” he stated.

He added that he plans to submit a petition to President John Dramani Mahama in the coming week, calling for the removal of Mr. Agyebeng from office.
