Founder of the PK Amoabeng Leadership Foundation, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, has expressed concern about what he describes as widespread negative attitudes in Ghanaian society that discourage excellence and personal growth.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Wednesday December 10, he noted that people are often criticised simply for demonstrating good values or high performance.

“Even when you go to a meeting on time, you are seen as the bad fellow,” he said. “Even in elementary school, when you are too bright, they say you are a witch.”

He argued that these attitudes reflect a deeper mindset problem that continues to hold many people back. According to him, jealousy, envy, disrespect, and a tendency to pull others down have become too common.

“The African mindset is something else. We don’t want to see excellence, and the jealousies and envy and lack of respect are too much,” he added.

Mr. Amoabeng stressed the need for a cultural shift, saying these negative behaviours must change if Ghana is to encourage excellence and achieve meaningful progress. “It is a bad thing we have to change,” he added.
