The Member of Parliament for Lambussie and Board Chair for the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Prof. Titus Beyuo, has outlined wide-ranging health sector interventions, including improved access to health insurance services, equipment donations, and renewed calls for the completion of a district hospital.
Addressing a large gathering at the 2025 MIFELE Gbero Festival, the MP announced that the district now has a fully autonomous National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office, bringing an end to long travel distances for card renewals and registration.
He disclosed that NHIS membership enrolment and renewals are currently ongoing at the festival grounds, making healthcare access more convenient for residents.
As part of efforts to recognise frontline health professionals, the MP said his office has instituted the first-ever District Health Workers Award Scheme, with the maiden ceremony scheduled for 5th January 2026.
Prof. Beyuo further announced that hospital beds and medical equipment valued at GH¢97,000 will be donated to the District Health Administration, also scheduled for 5th January 2026.
In addition, he highlighted health outreach efforts linked to the festival, including a free medical outreach held in the Muoteng community on 7th December, with free surgical services scheduled for 6th January 2026 at the Lambussie Polyclinic.
On long-term healthcare delivery, the MP revealed that he has engaged the Minister for Health to prioritise the completion of the Lambussie Agenda 111 project, noting that the district’s nearly 56,000 residents currently lack access to a district hospital and specialist healthcare services.
Prof. Titus Beyuo expressed confidence that the completion of the project would significantly improve healthcare access and outcomes for the people of Lambussie.
