The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has dismissed reports claiming its Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Ansei, has sacked staff following the circulation of an internal memorandum dated December 3, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, the Agency described the media reports as “misleading” and “entirely inaccurate,” stressing that no employee of the organisation has been dismissed.
According to the GEA, the memo in question has been misinterpreted, leading to the false impression that permanent staff had been asked to leave.
Clarifying the content of the memo, the agency explained that the individuals referenced were District Coordinators engaged under a project-based contract with a defined lifespan—not mainstream GEA employees.
Their one-year renewable contracts officially ended on August 31, 2025, but management extended their tenure by two additional months to ensure continuity of ongoing work.
“Under the terms of their contract, renewal is not automatic,” the statement reads. “It is subject to performance, attendance, funding, project needs, and other management considerations.”
The Agency said the internal directive merely instructed contract staff with expired agreements—and national service personnel who have completed their service—not to report to work until renewal processes or new arrangements are finalised.
GEA noted that this is standard administrative practice to maintain accountability and ensure proper management of agency resources.
The statement emphasised that no permanent or mainstream GEA staff were affected.
“The narrative circulating in sections of the media is misleading and should be disregarded,” management said, urging the public and media to seek clarification before publishing information.
GEA reaffirmed its commitment to due process, transparency, and fair treatment of all categories of staff, including those on project-based contracts and national service personnel whose tenure has legally ended.
