On December 6th, participants from corporate teams and youth organizations traded boardrooms for baobabs in what has become one of Ghana’s most transformative wellness and conservation movements.

The fourth Abonten Walks event of 2025 delivered an unforgettable blend of environmental stewardship, cultural connection, and wellness innovation.

The highlight of the day came as Greenwood Supply Services General Manager, Qunicy Boateng joined the Shai Hills Resource Reserve team for a ceremonial sod-cutting marking the beginning of construction to refurbish the picnic grounds.

This infrastructure investment represents a tangible commitment to making Ghana’s natural spaces more accessible to communities and corporate teams alike.

“Supporting Abonten Walks is an investment in Ghana’s future,” said Akwasi Boateng, CEO of Greenwood Supply Services. “When businesses, communities, and conservation unite, we create lasting change for both our economy and environment. Today’s sod-cutting is just the beginning of our long-term commitment to Shai Hills.”

The Guardians of Shai Experience

What set this event apart was the innovative “Guardians of Shai” treasure hunt—an immersive 40-minute challenge that transformed participants into active guardians of Ghana’s natural and cultural heritage.

Teams navigated through six challenge stations scattered across the reserve, solving riddles about the 1892 British displacement of the Shai people, identifying indigenous plant species like baobab trees, and documenting wildlife while maintaining safe distances from the reserve’s famous baboons.

“The treasure hunt wasn’t just about competition, it was about connection,” Julia Boachie-Yiadom shared, one of the participants. “We learned while we moved, laughed while we discovered, and bonded as a team in ways no conference room ever could.”

Wellness Meets Culture

The event kicked off with energizing warm-up stretches that prepared participants for the terrain ahead, after our hike and treasure hunt we embarked on electrifying Afrobeats Aerobics session. This fusion of fitness and culture exemplified Abonten Walks commitment to making wellness accessible, joyful, and authentically Ghanaian.

“The evidence is clear: wellness and environmental engagement drive measurable outcomes for individuals and organizations,” noted Ato Micah, CEO of Maverick Research.

“Abonten Walks delivers both—and corporate Ghana is taking notice. What we witnessed today was more than an event; it was a blueprint for the future of employee engagement.”

Building Momentum

For Nviron Hive, the December 6th event represents continued validation of a vision that brings together corporate leadership, youth engagement, and environmental conservation.

“The momentum is undeniable,” said Otema Yirenkyi, Co-Founder of Nviron Hive. “We’re not just organizing walks—we’re building a movement. Corporate Ghana is stepping up, youth are mobilizing, and together we’re creating something truly transformative. This is just the beginning.”

Partner perspectives reinforced this sense of collective impact. “Abonten Walks is redefining what’s possible when wellness and conservation intersect,” said Kwaku Ofosuhene, Partner at LFY Arena.

A Model for Sustainable Engagement

The December 6th event demonstrated how corporate teams and youth can unite around shared values of environmental stewardship and personal wellness. From the ceremonial groundbreaking to the final conservation pledges recorded by treasure hunt teams, every moment reinforced Abonten Walks’ mission: innovating today, sustaining tomorrow, empowering always.

As Abonten Walks scales into 2026, organisations and individuals committed to a greener, healthier Ghana are invited to be part of what’s next.
