The government has condemned the physical assault of Class Media Group journalist Samuel Addo, allegedly by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.

The incident occurred on Monday, January 5, while Addo was covering a fire incident at Kasoa New Market in the Central Region.

Reports indicate that the journalist was attacked after officials allegedly tried to prevent him from filming the fire scene.

Describing the attack as unacceptable, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, assured the public that firm action would be taken against the officers responsible.

“The attack on Class Media Group’s Samuel Addo by some personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service is most unacceptable, and I condemn same,” Kwakye said, emphasising the government’s commitment to protecting press freedom and ensuring accountability.
