Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to allocate at least 10 national-level appointments to every constituency under a future NPP government led by him.
Dr. Bawumia described the initiative as “one constituency, ten appointments,” aimed at strengthening party structures at the local level and promoting inclusive participation in governance.
He explained that constituencies would be empowered to nominate qualified and deserving individuals for these appointments, who would also contribute to local development.
In a message to party delegates ahead of the NPP presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, Dr. Bawumia called for massive support, emphasizing his vision to make all constituencies resilient and sustainable.
“My plan is to strengthen all constituencies in Ghana to be resilient and sustainable. Most of the time, some constituencies are left out in the appointment process. As a future President of Ghana, God willing, I will dedicate 3,000 out of 7,000 national appointments to constituencies nationwide.
“Every constituency will get at least 10 national-level appointments per constituency, including ministers of state, deputy ministers, CEOs, deputy CEOs, Ambassadors, Deputy Ambassadors, Board of Directors, amongst others,” he promised.
Dr. Bawumia also warned that under his leadership, non-performing appointees would not be spared.
“Appointees who will perform abysmally will be replaced with competent ones,” he stated.
He is contesting the presidential race alongside Kennedy Agyapong, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong.
