The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has disclosed that it has secured a massive windfall for the state, recovering millions in cash and seizing a high-value portfolio of luxury assets, fuel stations, and prime real estate during the latter half of 2025.
According to the OSP’s Half-Yearly Report (July–December 2025), the office’s anti-corruption drive has resulted in the following asset recoveries and seizures:
Direct Financial Recoveries
The OSP successfully redirected substantial sums back to the state treasury, including:
US$ 2,000,000.00: Recovered for the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF).
GH₵ 8,518,233.00: Recovered from an investigation into the diversion of petroleum products.
GH₵ 951,995.56: Cash seized during the arrest and investigation of suspects in the high-profile case The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others.
Real Estate and Commercial Assets
In its largest seizure to date, the OSP took control of an extensive list of commercial and residential properties, primarily linked to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) extortion and money laundering case:
Fuel Infrastructure: Four fuel stations located in Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, Opeikuma, and Millennium City (Kasoa), along with 23 fuel tanker trucks.
Luxury Residential Buildings: * A two-storey mansion in East Legon valued at GH₵ 12.7 million.
A two-storey building in Adjiringanor valued at GH₵ 10 million.
A six-unit block of buildings in Agbogba valued at GH₵ 10 million.
High-End Apartments: Multiple units in Accra’s most prestigious developments, including The Signature, The Lennox, The Bantree, and The Address, with values ranging from GH₵ 1.4 million to GH₵ 3.5 million per unit.
Strategic Land Parcels: Massive plots of land in Tamale, Haatso, Adenta, and Kumasi, valued collectively in the tens of millions of cedis.
Luxury Vehicle Fleet
As part of the investigation into MIIF, the OSP seized a fleet of world-class luxury vehicles with a total estimated value of GH₵ 18,600,000.00. The fleet includes:
Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800 S/W
Rolls Royce Mansory Phantom S/C
Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680 S/C
Toyota Land Cruisers and Lexus models
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) also commended President John Dramani Mahama for his decisive action in calling for the withdrawal of a Private Member’s Bill that sought to repeal the Office and transfer its powers to the Attorney-General.
“The Office highly commends the President – and the nation has His Excellency to thank – for the swift and decisive call for the withdrawal of the bill,” the report stated.
