In a remarkable display of cross-continental philanthropy, Ms Zaina Bint Gibrine, a student from Charlotte Latin School in North Carolina, has successfully launched a transformative technology project at the Sparkling Stars International School in Accra.

Driven by a desire to give back to her father’s home country, Ms Gibrine travelled from the United States to West Africa to “adopt” the school and introduce cutting-edge manufacturing technology to its curriculum.

Empowering Through Technology

The core of the initiative focused on practical skill-building. Ms Gibrine conducted intensive training sessions for both students and faculty, demystifying the complexities of 3D printing technology. To ensure the project’s sustainability, she donated two complete 3D printing units along with all necessary accessories and filaments.

The impact of the visit was immediate, turning a theoretical interest in tech into a hands-on learning experience for the Sparkling Stars community.

A Grassroots Global Effort

The project was the culmination of a dedicated fundraising campaign led by Ms Gibrine. By mobilising donors in both the United States and Ghana, she was able to:

Finance the purchase of high-quality 3D printing hardware.

Secure all necessary technical accessories.

Fund the travel and logistics required to implement the program on-site.

“Her work has helped to equip our students and teachers with the tools of the future,” a school representative stated during the handover ceremony.

Strengthening Bonds

The leadership at Sparkling Stars International School expressed profound gratitude for the donation, noting that the initiative does more than just provide hardware—it builds a bridge between Charlotte and Accra. The school voiced strong hopes for a follow-up visit to further strengthen the bond with Ms. Gibrine and advance the students’ technical proficiency.

As 3D printing continues to reshape global industries, the students at Sparkling Stars are now uniquely positioned to participate in the digital economy, thanks to a young leader’s vision and her ties to her Ghanaian heritage.
