Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has highlighted key factors suggesting that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is on course to win the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The firm’s final poll, released on January 23, projects Dr. Bawumia to secure 57 percent of the votes, placing him comfortably ahead of his rivals.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Wednesday, January 28, Mr. Dankwah cited several reasons underpinning the prediction, including voter demographics, delegates’ preference for experienced candidates, and candidate qualities such as electability and favorability ratings.
“First and foremost is the demography of NPP voters. Only 12 percent of delegates are under 34 years old. The party, being conservative, generally does not favour mavericks or disruptive candidates,” he explained.
He added that delegates also value candidates with prior experience, noting that 45 percent of delegates believe presenting a candidate for a second time benefits the party in the general election.
Candidate qualities and favourability ratings also played a major role. “Delegates want someone who can win the general election for them. Dr. Bawumia received a 93 percent favourability rating, followed by Dr. Bryan Acheampong at 86 percent, Engineer Kwabena Agyepong at 85 percent, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at 83 percent, and Kennedy Agyapong at 85 percent,” Mr. Dankwah said.
The poll firmly placed Dr. Bawumia in the lead, with Kennedy Agyapong trailing at 28 percent, Dr. Bryan Acheampong at 13 percent, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at 2 percent, and Engineer Kwabena Agyepong at zero percent.
The NPP 2026 Presidential Primaries Prediction survey was conducted from January 20 to January 23, 2026, with a nationwide sample of 10,133 respondents, covering all 16 regions and 272 constituencies.
