Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has accused the government of trying to introduce what he calls an LGBTQ agenda into Ghana’s school curriculum and has called for the immediate withdrawal of the teaching materials.

In a post on his official X page on Tuesday, January 13, Rev. Fordjour alleged that the government has printed and distributed teacher manuals and other teaching and learning materials (TLMs) that promote LGBTQ-related content in schools.

He argued that this move contradicts the NPP’s public stance on LGBTQ issues and is connected to delays in Parliament’s consideration of the Private Member’s Bill titled the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.

“NDC has mischievously and deliberately smuggled LGBTQ agenda into the curriculum, printed and distributed Teacher Manuals and other Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) to promote LGBTQ contrary to their deceptive rhetoric of being the party which abhors LGBTQ” he said.

According to Rev. Fordjour, the alleged inclusion of such content in the curriculum explains why the bill has not been listed on the Order Paper for debate and possible passage by Parliament.

“This diabolical and dangerous agenda, among others, reveals why this government has suppressed the private members’ bill: Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill from being listed in Order Paper for consideration and consequential passage by Parliament” he stated

Rev. Fordjour demands the immediate withdrawal of all teacher manuals and textbooks that he claims contain such content, both in print and online, insisting that the curriculum must be reviewed to remove what he describes as “poisoned” sections.

He cautioned the government against using the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) and the Ministry of Education to promote what he terms an unacceptable agenda.

“We demand the immediate recall of all the Teacher Manuals and Textbooks propagating NDCs LGBTQ agenda both online and in prints from schools. We further demand review of all portions of TLMs poisoned with LGBTQ agenda with immediate effect to sanitize the curriculum.

“We strongly caution the government to refrain from using NaCCA and Ministry of Education to propagate this vile and evil agenda of LGBTQ sexuality education” he added
