Public feedback key to fixing irregular water in Accra – GWL

The Director of Communications at Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Stanley Martey, has explained that irregular water supply in parts of Accra and other urban areas can be addressed through consistent feedback from residents.

The remarks come after residents in areas such as Spintex Batsona, Teshie, and Nungua raised concerns over limited access to water, with some noting that private water vendors charge exorbitant prices.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Mr. Martey noted that GWL’s recently published rationing programme is meant to inform the public about water distribution schedules.

“We published the new rationing programme so that everybody will know when they will have water. This programme has been on since. Our issue now is that we need feedback from the people to ensure that water goes everywhere. So we go round the community, take feedback from people, and see things for ourselves,” he said.

He further explained that some areas receive regular water flow while others do not, adding that the feedback helps GWL make adjustments.

“The water has been flowing, except that it is not regular this time round. People who used to get water about four times a week are now getting it once or twice a week,” Mr. Martey said.

The utility company emphasised the importance of community engagement in ensuring equitable water distribution and urged residents to report areas with irregular supply.
