The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three foreign nationals in connection with alleged SIM box fraud activities at the Sakumono Ramsar Site in Accra.

The arrests were carried out on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following intelligence-led operations within residential apartments in the area.

The suspects have been identified as Timileyin Fakunle, 30; Begun Adedeji, 31; and Olamide Roheemot, 28. Police said the suspects were arrested in separate apartments.

A search conducted at the premises led to the retrieval of several sophisticated electronic gadgets, SIM boxes, and assorted SIM cards believed to have been used in the alleged fraudulent activities.

During interrogation, the suspects mentioned two other accomplices, identified only as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently on the run. They also indicated that the alleged leader of the group, identified as Tomy, a Chinese national who remotely controls the SIM boxes, is also at large.

The Police said efforts are underway to collaborate with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to ensure the safe removal and technical examination of the retrieved exhibits to support ongoing investigations.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against renting or subletting premises to unknown persons without conducting proper background checks. Property owners and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Police.

The Command reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and telecommunication-related offences in the region.
