The family of Gilda Nortey, wife of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, is calling for justice following her alleged stabbing in the United States.

In an exclusive interview with Citi News, relatives said Gilda Nortey was stabbed multiple times by her husband during what they described as a domestic dispute, reportedly linked to threats of divorce.

David Gyapanin, uncle to the victim, described the incident as deeply troubling and appealed for justice to be served.

“They had a little argument, and my niece said she may file for divorce if things continue that way. My niece said Valentino threatened to either kill himself or kill her. He stabbed her three times. She pleaded with him to take her to the hospital. He agreed on condition that she would not mention his name.

“Fortunately, she had the car key and managed to drive to the hospital where she works. She’s getting better. As a family, we want nothing less than justice,” he said.

Mr Gyapanin added, “It happened in the States, and we want to believe that the laws there will be enforced fully. You can’t marry someone’s daughter, and just because she says she no longer wants the marriage, decide to end her life. If justice isn’t served in the States, when he comes to Ghana, we will seek justice.”

According to Lower Paxton Township Police, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, along Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania. Police confirmed that the woman was taken to the hospital by first responders and is currently in stable condition, adding that there was no threat to the public.

Mr Nortey, 41, of Harrisburg, faces multiple charges, including attempted homicide, possessing an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Online court records indicate that he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied him bail.

He is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison ahead of a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 26, 2026. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
