The Gbese District Court in Accra on Wednesday, February 25 remanded Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica into police custody again following his re-arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).

The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 18, 2026 as his extradition proceedings to the United States continues.

Abu Trica’s re-arrest comes shortly after he and his co-accused were previously discharged by the same court in connection with an indictment by U.S. authorities over an alleged $8 million romance scam targeting elderly Americans.

The scheme, which attracted international attention, had accused Abu Trica and others of orchestrating fraudulent activities online.

While the court did not provide details on the grounds for his re-arrest, Abu Trica will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
