National Ambulance Service (NAS) has paid a working visit to the Ridge Hospital in Accra to strengthen ties and deepen referral coordination between both organisations.
The delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer for the Service, Dr. George Kojo Owusu and other top management members.
Addressing a meeting, Dr. George said the Ridge Hospital and NAS have a lot in common and that the hospital is one of the top ten receiving facilities from NAS, making it necessary for the two institutions to connect and develop better mechanisms of communication when referring patients to help tone down the “no bed syndrome” challenge.
The Medical Director of Ridge Hospital, Dr. Leslie Issa Adam-Zakariah, said the hospital runs a functional bed system making it one of the best receiving centers where EMTs don’t stress but more needs to be done to improve upon it.
According to records, the National Ambulance Service transports over 1,005 referred cases to the Ridge Hospital for further management within a year, which is about 5% of the total cases referred across Ghana.
NAS remains steadfast in its mission to deliver timely, professional and life-saving emergency medical services to Ghanaians.
