Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has assured Ghanaian cocoa farmers that the government’s ongoing reforms will safeguard their interests and strengthen the cocoa sector.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra  on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Dr. Forson expressed appreciation to farmers and all stakeholders for their patience and sacrifices over the years.

He noted that cocoa has always been a vital part of Ghana’s economy and emphasized that the new measures are designed to protect both the farmers and the industry.

“These reforms will protect the interest of the cocoa farmer and the cocoa sector. In fact, we strongly believe this will transform the industry,” he stated.

Dr. Forson’s comments come as the government implements a series of initiatives, including revised producer prices, improved financing models, and enhanced local processing, aimed at ensuring sustainability, fair payments, and long-term growth in the cocoa sector.
