Lawyers for the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, have clarified that he was not arrested by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB).

This comes after Dzifa Gunu, CEO of Ghana Digital Centre Limited, indicated on a Facebook post that Nkansah was picked up after reportedly ignoring earlier invitations from the NIB to provide evidence supporting his allegations.

According to his legal team, led by Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Mr. Nkansah voluntarily appeared before the NIB to provide information on allegations of the sale of government-funded overseas scholarships by the Scholarship Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the appearance followed a directive from President John Dramani Mahama instructing the NIB to investigate claims made by Mr. Ofosu Nkansah during a radio discussion on Sompa 106.5 FM. During the broadcast, he alleged that payments were being made to secure scholarships abroad, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the award of government-sponsored educational opportunities.

Contrary to a Facebook post by Dzifa Gunu, CEO of Ghana Digital Centres Limited, which suggested that Nkansah had been “picked up” after refusing NIB invitations, his lawyers emphasized that he cooperated fully with investigators.

The President’s office had described the allegations as “serious and of grave public concern” in a communication dated February 3, 2026, and tasked the NIB with verifying the claims, identifying any persons involved, and submitting findings directly to the President for further action.

Lawyers for Nkansah stressed that his engagement with the NIB was in line with this directive and involved providing the necessary information to aid the investigation.
