The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has announced that Ghana’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will pursue an international arrest warrant through Interpol for a Russian national accused of publishing sexually explicit images and videos of Ghanaian women without their consent.

The move follows complaints lodged by several women who appeared in a viral video involving the suspect. According to the Minister, the reports triggered immediate investigations into the alleged offences.

Sam George confirmed that official checks had verified the man’s identity and nationality after speculation online. Verification through his passport confirmed he is a Russian citizen, contrary to earlier rumours.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, February 18, the Minister described the suspect’s actions as “atrocious conduct” that violates Ghanaian law, undermines the privacy of the victims and disregards their dignity.

Prior to the announcement, government summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ghana to formally express concern over the alleged unlawful conduct and to demand accountability.

The controversy intensified after a viral video surfaced showing a man identified as Yaytseslav interacting with Ghanaian women, some of whom were later reported to have accompanied him to his hotel.

The footage circulated widely across social media platforms, sparking public outrage and renewed calls for decisive action against online sexual exploitation.
