The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, have announced a series of measures aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply in the Volta and Oti Regions.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, February 10, the power sector agencies acknowledged persistent challenges with power supply in the two regions, noting that they have historically not been served by a dedicated transmission line.
While plans are underway to construct a transmission line as a long-term solution, interim measures are being implemented to address the situation immediately.
As part of the planned activities, a scheduled power interruption will occur at the Asiekpe Substation from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026. The outage will allow engineers to carry out a load redistribution exercise aimed at improving the stability and reliability of the electricity supply in the affected areas.
The planned interruption will affect consumers in Ho, Asiekpe, Sogakope, Kpeve, Kpando, Kadjebi and surrounding communities during the period of the exercise.
GRIDCo and ECG indicated that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the work is completed within the scheduled timeframe to minimise inconvenience to consumers.
The agencies apologised to customers for any inconvenience the planned outage may cause and appealed for patience and cooperation as efforts continue to improve power supply in the Volta and Oti Regions.
