Indelibl Arts in partnership with the Embassy of Ghana in the Czech Republic has announced the inaugural edition of Ghana Culture Week. An initiative designed to showcase the richness and diversity of Ghanaian art and culture.

The event aligns with the cultural diplomacy policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which aims to bring Ghanaian culture closer to international audiences by supporting and encouraging Ghanaian missions abroad to collaborate with private and public actors to champion Ghanaian creativity.

The maiden edition of Ghana Culture Week mirrors Accra Art Week which over the past 6 years has grown to become a living archive of Accra’s creative ecosystem (available via; https://accraartweek.org/discover/).

The week-long annual festival in Accra, Ghana, was established to bring together established and emerging artists through exhibitions, live performances, talks, workshops, and guided tours. For over a
decade, the firm behind Accra Art Week, Indelibl Arts has been committed to building visibility and sustainable platforms for Ghanaian artists all over the globe. Ghana Culture Week represents the
beginning of a new chapter for the organisation.

Edwin Otta, CEO of Indelibl Arts and founder of Accra Art Week when asked about the importance of this new initiative, he said, “We are truly honoured to partner with the Ghana Embassy in the Czech Republic, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to take Ghanaian culture onto the global stage. After the remarkable momentum of the Year of Return, we believe it is time to take Ghanaian creativity on the road. We are excited about what the maiden edition of Ghana Culture Week represents and are deeply grateful to all our partners and supporters who continue to champion this vision.”

From the 6th-10th of March, an array of events will showcase the vibrancy of Ghanaian culture, including an Independence Day celebration hosted by the Ghanaian Ambassador to the Czech Republic on 6 March, art exhibition on 8 and 10th March respectively which feature the works of Ghanaian artists Yaw Tony and Dela Quarshie. The art exhibition is generously supported by Sunseekers Travel & Tours, a premier Ghanaian travel & tour company who are members of the prestigious Czech Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents.

Arguably one of the highlight of the week-long celebration is the presentation of the 1970 short documentary film by the prolific Nii Kwate Owoo.

The film was an early call for the restitution of artefacts housed in the British Museum. Although it was a radical position at the time, it remains poignant in today’s climate of renewed cultural diplomacy. Also featured in the programme are films created by the winners of the 2025 Artention Short Film competition—the flagship creative arts initiative by Société Générale Ghana Bank which spotlights emerging voices and innovative storytelling in contemporary cinema.

Filmmakers went through 3 months of applications, training, film production and final presentations.
In addition to the mentorship, training and cash prizes they were awarded, the participants also saw their films premiere late last year at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall, and now, they have the great honour of seeing their films hit international screens. The event is being organised with the support of the Czech National Film Archive, Charles University, Prague, Ghana National Film Authority, Ghana Museums, and Sunseekers Travel & Tour, among other partners.

“Ghana Culture Week is a celebration of heritage and innovation,” says Theresa Adjei-Mensah, the Ambassador of Ghana to the Czech Republic, and the host of the official Independence celebration which will open the festivities in Prague. She went on to say that, ‘’This initiative goes beyond a cultural showcase; it serves as a dynamic platform for amplifying Ghanaian artistic voices and fostering meaningful dialogue on the restitution of cultural heritage, while underscoring the strong diplomatic bonds between our two nations.”

Some of the speakers expected to be in attendance include the Executive Secretary of the Ghana
National Film Authority, Kafui Danku, the Executive Director of the Ghana Museums, Essel Blankson, Filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo and CEO of Indelibl Arts, Edwin Otta, among other key stakeholders.
