Lancaster University Ghana has organised a Model African Union (AU) Summit to equip students with practical skills in leadership, diplomacy and policy-making.
The summit, held at the university’s campus at Tantra Hill in Accra, brought students together to simulate African Union debates and decision-making processes, intending to groom the next generation of African leaders.
Speaking to Citi News, the Acting CEO and Provost of Lancaster University Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Arthur, said the programme is designed to help students apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations.
He noted that one of the university’s key strengths is its focus on developing students’ competencies for future leadership roles.
According to him, the summit also prepares students to operate effectively in a global environment by exposing them to issues of governance, diplomacy and international relations.
Dr. Arthur expressed hope that the initiative would inspire students to take up leadership positions and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development, adding that the university remains committed to nurturing responsible and globally competitive graduates.
The Model AU Summit forms part of the university’s broader efforts to provide hands-on learning experiences that complement academic studies and prepare students for leadership roles across the continent.
