Relationship coach Rev Dr Nanayaa Prempeh has cautioned young people against allowing sex to become the foundation for love, warning that relationships built primarily on physical attraction often collapse when challenges arise.

Speaking on Upside Down on Channel One TV on Sunday, February 15, she stressed that love and marriage require maturity and deliberate decision-making, rather than emotional impulse driven by pleasure.

According to her, falling in love without clarity can distort judgement and cause individuals to tolerate harmful behaviour simply because of emotional attachment.

Rev Dr Prempeh explained that the motivation behind love must be grounded in long-term values capable of sustaining a relationship beyond physical intimacy.

She further urged individuals to prioritise kindness, respect, and godly character, arguing that such traits are more reliable indicators of genuine love than fleeting excitement.

“Love and marriage are very spiritual. It is a decision to fall in love. When you meet someone and you fall in love, and if you are not careful, every wrong the person does become right for you because of what drove you.

”Some people fall in love with people because of the way they sex them up. Sex is a bonus that comes with love; it should not be a reason to fall in love because if it is not there, the relationship collapses,” she said.
