President John Dramani Mahama is in Parliament to deliver his second State of the Nation Address since returning to office. The President is outlining his administration’s performance over the past year and setting out the government’s priorities for the months ahead.
The address, delivered in accordance with constitutional provisions, is expected to present a broad assessment of the country’s state, touching on critical sectors such as the economy, infrastructure, education, healthcare and energy.
On the economic front, President Mahama is anticipated to address issues including inflation, public debt management, revenue mobilisation, job creation and efforts to stabilise the macroeconomic environment.
Proceedings began with a ceremonial inspection by the President, after which he entered the Chamber of Parliament amid tight security and in the presence of senior government officials, Members of Parliament and other key stakeholders.
