The 2026 ‘Back to Your Village’ Food Festival kicks off today, March 28, at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, offering patrons a unique opportunity to reconnect with Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through food, music, and storytelling.

Scheduled to run through Sunday, March 29, the two-day event is designed as more than just a food fair—it is a full cultural immersion that brings together tradition, community, and cuisine in one vibrant setting.

A major highlight of the festival is its recreation of the traditional Ghanaian village setting. Visitors can explore distinct ethnic “villages,” each showcasing unique cultural expressions—from live traditional music to dance performances that reflect the identity of various communities.

Beyond the performances, the festival encourages full participation, with designated dining areas within each village where patrons can purchase and enjoy traditional meals in an authentic environment.

The experience is further enriched by the presence of vendors selling traditional cookware, including grinding stones and earthenware bowls, evoking memories of communal cooking practices.

Running daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the festival also aims to promote a renewed appreciation for Ghanaian cuisine and culture in the face of increasing Western influence.

Powered by Channel One TV with support from Citi FM, the festival is sponsored by Ecobank, Gino, Didi Shito, Munchee Biscuits, and Everpack.

Organisers say the event is not just a celebration, but a call for Ghanaians to rediscover their roots and embrace their cultural identity.
