The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has stated that the government is sending a clear signal on its commitment to transforming the country’s agribusiness sector through innovation and technology.

According to her, the move is part of broader efforts to bridge the persistent gap between Ghana’s agricultural potential and its actual performance.

Speaking at the opening of the three-day Ghana Agrotech Fair 2026 at Black Star Square on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Minister emphasised that the event represents a strategic push to reposition agriculture as a modern, innovation-driven sector.

“Through this fair, we are sending a strong signal to use innovation and technology to drive the agribusiness sector,” she stated.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare noted that the Ministry is focused on leveraging agribusiness as a tool to unlock value across the agricultural chain and stimulate economic growth.

She explained that the three-day fair will highlight the depth of Ghana’s agricultural innovation ecosystem, bringing together local manufacturers, agritech startups, and research institutions.

“Over the next three days, this place will come alive with the ingenuity of Ghana’s agric innovations. Local manufacturers will showcase the machinery they have built, agritech startups will demonstrate the digital tools they have developed, and research institutions will present solutions refined over years of dedicated work,” she said.

The Minister added that the fair will expose farmers to practical technologies that can significantly improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and expand access to markets.

“It will also present farmers technologies that can transform their yield, reduce their losses and connect them to markets they never would have accessed. Inventors will also get to know that there are opportunities in Ghana’s agriculture sector that are as vast and compelling,” she added.
