Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to consider sending Sandra Baafi Boateng, a victim of the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise stampede, abroad for specialised treatment if recommended by medical professionals.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Monday, March 9,  Akandoh provided an update on the condition of Ms Baafi Boateng, assuring lawmakers that the government remains committed to supporting her recovery.

“I wish to assure this Honourable House that the Ministry of Health has remained actively engaged with Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to ensure that Ms Sandra Baafi Boateng receives the requisite specialist care and that every necessary step is being taken to expedite her treatment and recovery,” he said.

The Victim according to the Minister, sustained serious injuries during the recruitment exercise held on November 12, 2025, at Baba Yara Sports Stadium. She initially received inpatient care and specialist supervision, with all medical bills fully covered by the government to relieve her and her family of financial burden.

Since February 26, 2026, Ms Baafi Boateng has been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital for further management, receiving comprehensive care from a specialist-led, multidisciplinary team. Her treatment also includes rehabilitation and social support designed to optimise her recovery.

Mr Akandoh insisted that the government is exploring all appropriate medical options, both locally and internationally, to ensure that she receives the best possible care. Sandra has remained bedridden since the incident during the 2025/2026 enlistment exercise.
