Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly has debunked claims circulating on social media that it has converted land near the Osu Cemetery into a refuse dump.
In a press release, the Assembly described the allegation as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard the viral video and refrain from spreading misinformation.
According to the Assembly, the location captured in the video is not a dumping site but a temporary waste transfer point, where mini refuse trucks offload waste into municipal skip containers for onward transportation to a designated landfill.
The Assembly acknowledged that recent operational challenges at the landfill occasionally delayed the evacuation of waste from the transfer point, which may have created the impression seen in the video.
It also noted that the facility was inherited from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and is currently being upgraded into a modern waste transfer station as part of ongoing sanitation improvement measures.
The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly assured residents of its commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment and encouraged the public to rely on official communication channels for accurate information.
