A suspected armed robber, Osman Amadu, popularly known as “Manu,” has been shot dead by police during an intelligence-led operation in Atebubu.

According to police, Amadu had been identified as a member of a robbery gang linked to an attack on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu–Ejura highway, during which gunfire left one passenger injured.

On March 18, 2026, personnel from the Police Intelligence Department carried out an operation targeting the suspect, who was believed to be hiding in Ejura.

Police say the situation escalated when Amadu allegedly pulled out a single-barrel gun in an attempt to engage the officers. In response, the police discharged their weapons, fatally wounding him.

A subsequent search of the suspect led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun, five live cartridges, GH¢200 in cash, and a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone.

Amadu was rushed to Atebubu Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by medical staff.
