A woman who admitted to preparing meals for her children using faeces and urine in the Bulemi community in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality is to undergo psychiatric evaluation following the intervention of the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.

The development comes after a viral video of the incident triggered widespread concern over the safety and welfare of the family.

The Minister visited the community after the case was highlighted in a news report and subsequently arranged for the woman to be taken to a health facility for further medical and psychological assessment.

The woman, identified as 56-year-old Leticia Okine, and her two children confirmed the practice at their residence in Bulemi Top.

During the visit, the Minister, accompanied by journalist who broke the story, engaged the family before facilitating their transfer to the hospital for evaluation.

The intervention forms part of efforts by the Ministry to safeguard vulnerable individuals and ensure that appropriate care and support systems are put in place in cases that raise serious health and safety concerns.
