Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has commented on the ongoing debates surrounding the Artiste of the Year category at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, expressing concern over the apparent exclusion of Wendy Shay from key conversations.
In an interview with Kafui Dey, shared on Instagram on April 4, 2026, Black Sherif noted that Wendy Shay’s efforts and impact in 2025 have not been adequately recognised.
“I don’t like how people are not mentioning Wendy Shay’s name for Artiste of the Year,” he said. “I don’t really like the division, but if I’m being honest and looking at things as they are, I don’t like how she’s being overlooked. I feel she is eligible this year as well.”
His comments add a new layer to the already heated discussions among fans and industry players, as debates continue over who truly deserves the top honour at this year’s awards.
