CorpsAfrica/Ghana has successfully held its 4th Pitch Day in Accra, a flagship fundraising event aimed at supporting innovative, community-driven development projects across rural Ghana.

The 31 March 2026 event brought together all 67 CorpsAfrica Volunteers and their Community Counterparts, reinforcing the organisation’s model of grassroots collaboration and locally driven solutions to development challenges.

Six volunteers — Sadia, Abdul-Razak, Beatrice, Abdul-Fatawa, Godson, and Fatimatu — presented projects developed in close partnership with their host communities. The initiatives include poultry farming, irrigation and sheep rearing, pig farming, a seedling nursery, a water expansion system, a corn milling facility and catfish farming.

The projects are designed to address pressing challenges such as unemployment, limited income opportunities, lack of access to potable water, and seasonal livelihood constraints in rural communities.

Each presentation was delivered jointly with community representatives, often in local dialects, underscoring a strong emphasis on authenticity, participation and community ownership.

Pitch Day 2026 featured a panel of judges drawn from industry and development sectors, including Charity Adupong, Chief Executive Officer of Meannan Foods; Joseph Boateng, Programme Lead for Access to Market at the Mastercard Foundation; Comfort Adjahoe, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jennings Ele Agbe Co. Ltd; and James Tachie-Menson, Managing Director of Ronor Motors. The panel provided technical feedback, critical questions and guidance to strengthen the proposed interventions.

In a keynote address delivered on behalf of the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Chief Director Emma Myde highlighted the importance of recognising and rewarding volunteerism, noting ongoing efforts to encourage employers to prioritise volunteer experience in recruitment decisions.

The event also drew participation from stakeholders including the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, Tullow Ghana, GhanaThink, Mastercard Foundation, Channel One TV and other development partners and media organisations.

CorpsAfrica/Ghana said the Pitch Day reflects its continued commitment to empowering young Africans to drive community-led solutions to development challenges.

It added that although the event has ended, support is still being encouraged for the various projects.

CorpsAfrica is a non-profit organisation inspired by the Peace Corps model, which recruits and trains young Africans to serve in underserved communities by facilitating community-driven development and building local capacity.
