Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye, has reportedly passed away after a period of illness.
Details surrounding his death remain unclear, and formal confirmation from his family is yet to be issued. However, tributes have already begun pouring in from police circles, where he is being remembered for his service and leadership.
Mr Quaye was appointed IGP in 2009 by the late President John Evans Atta Mills. During his tenure, he was noted for promoting discipline within the Ghana Police Service and working to rebuild public trust in the institution.
He introduced reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism and ensuring officers adhered to high standards of conduct.
Colleagues often described him as a calm but firm leader, earning him the nickname “gentle giant.”
He retired from the Ghana Police Service in 2013 after years of service.
