The Member of Parliament for Tano North, Gideon Boako, has cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern maternity block at the Duayaw-Nkwanta Health Centre in the Ahafo Region, in a move aimed at improving maternal healthcare delivery.
The project is expected to enhance access to quality healthcare services for pregnant women and reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in the municipality.
The planned facility will include antenatal wards, a theatre, general ward, laboratory, records office, delivery rooms, examination rooms, storage areas, nurses’ changing rooms and washrooms.
Dr Boako, who is funding the project, said the initiative forms part of efforts to address challenges in maternal care and ensure safer deliveries within the constituency.
He stressed that access to primary healthcare should not be a challenge for residents and pledged his commitment to bringing quality healthcare services closer to the people.
The Acting President of the Duayaw-Nkwanta Traditional Council, Nana Boakye Bonsu, commended the MP for the intervention and assured that the traditional authorities would monitor the execution of the project to ensure its completion.
