The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission has directed all prospective applicants seeking employment in agencies under the Ministry of Education to submit their academic credentials for verification as part of the recruitment process.

The directive follows clearance granted for recruitment into agencies under the Ministry of Education, prompting the Commission to stress the need for strict validation of qualifications before appointments are made.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 9, the Commission urged applicants to present their tertiary-level certificates, including diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and PhDs for evaluation to ensure their authenticity.

The move, according to the Commission, is aimed at addressing the growing concern over the use of fraudulent certificates and qualifications obtained from unaccredited or unrecognised institutions.

The GTEC, established under the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023), is mandated to accredit both public and private tertiary institutions and their programmes, as well as verify academic credentials.

It emphasised that the verification process will form a critical part of the recruitment exercise, ensuring that only qualified and duly certified individuals are considered for employment within the education sector.

The Commission further urged all prospective applicants to treat the directive with urgency, as efforts intensify to safeguard the integrity and standards of Ghana’s education system.
