Mahama: Ghana will prepare workers to lead in AI era

President John Dramani Mahama has underscored that the government will not allow technological disruption to marginalise workers, but will instead equip them to take leading roles in an AI-driven future.

Speaking at the launch of the National AI Strategy on Friday, April 24, the President stated, “We don’t intend to surrender our people to technological disruption; we intend to prepare them to lead in it.”

President Mahama noted that Ghana will adopt a human-centred, inclusive, and responsible model for AI development—one that balances efficiency with resilience, sustainability, and respect for human dignity.

He emphasised that government policy will prioritise the use of Artificial Intelligence as a tool to strengthen human capabilities rather than replace them.

“We will pursue a human-centred, inclusive and responsible model of adoption, consistent with industry values, emphasising not only efficiency but also resilience, sustainability and the centrality of the human person,” he added.

He emphasised that the government is committed to addressing these concerns and ensuring that AI is used to enhance, rather than undermine, human potential.
