Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a series of robbery incidents at Akatsi and surrounding communities in the Volta Region, following a targeted operation by the Special Operations Assistant (SOA) to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
In a Facebook post, the police revealed that the coordinated operation, carried out on April 21, 2026, also led to the retrieval of a cache of weapons believed to have been used in the criminal activities.
The first suspect, identified as Enoch Adoglo, was arrested at Gavekope. Further intelligence-led operations led officers to the outskirts of the same community, where a second suspect, Cephas Aniwaa, a blacksmith allegedly responsible for manufacturing and supplying weapons to the group, was arrested.

A third suspect, David Adzinu, was also picked up during the operation.
A search conducted on the suspects resulted in the recovery of seven single-barrel rifles, five locally manufactured pistols, one revolver, 64 rounds of ACP ammunition, 11 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, four rounds of 7.62 x 51 ammunition, four live BB cartridges, 18 spent BB cartridges, three mobile phones and weapon-making tools.

Preliminary investigations have further linked one Mensah Kedzi as a key suspect in the robbery syndicate, including a reported incident on April 3, 2026. He is currently on the run together with other alleged accomplices, including an ex-convict identified as Akakpo and another suspect, Ageh.
Police say efforts have been intensified to arrest the remaining suspects and bring all those involved to justice.
