The President of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG), Samuel Afotey Otu, has called for increased investment in human resources and technology within the judiciary as Ghana marks a major milestone in its legal history.
Speaking at the launch of the Supreme Court at 150 celebration on Thursday, April 16, 2026, Mr Otu stressed the critical role of judicial staff in maintaining the effectiveness and integrity of the justice system.
“Behind every landmark judgement is the silent but vital support of hardworking staff who keep the wheels of justice turning,” he said.
He urged stakeholders to prioritise reforms that strengthen the capacity of the judiciary, noting that the future of the justice system depends on sustained investment in people, innovation, and improved working conditions.
“As we look into the future, we must continue to invest in people, innovation, and better conditions of service for judicial staff and judges,” Mr Otu said.
He added that deepening digital transformation and enhancing institutional capacity are essential to improving efficiency and access to justice.
“We must strengthen institutional capacity, deepen digital transformation, and ensure the welfare of all who work in the justice system,” he stated.
Otu further emphasised that a well-supported workforce remains central to maintaining public trust in the courts.
“A strong supported workforce is essential for sustaining the integrity of our courts,” he added.
The Supreme Court at 150 celebration marks a significant moment in Ghana’s judicial history, providing an opportunity for reflection on the evolution of the judiciary and the reforms needed to meet future demands.
