2028 victory depends on conduct, not rhetoric – NPP’s Eric Taylor

A concerned member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Kwesi Taylor, has called on the party’s leadership and senior members to take decisive steps to curb personal attacks, defamation and insults directed at Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and other senior figures within the party.

In a press statement titled, “NPP and the Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong Factor,” he urged party communicators, supporters and social media activists to express political disagreements with civility, arguing that healthy internal discourse should be based on issues rather than personal attacks.

According to him, the NPP’s chances of returning to power in the 2028 general election will depend not only on its campaign message but also on the conduct and service of its members at every level of the party.

He said meaningful engagement with communities through job creation initiatives, women’s empowerment, youth development and volunteerism would do more to restore public confidence in the NPP than internal conflicts and public exchanges.

Mr. Taylor further appealed to Mr. Kennedy Agyapong to remain committed to the party despite any past grievances, describing him as a key figure whose broad support base within and outside the NPP remains an asset.

“I therefore appeal to Mr. Agyapong to remain focused on the bigger picture, set aside past grievances and continue contributing to the growth and success of the party we all cherish. Many of us appreciate his contributions and hope to see him continue playing an active role in national development and in the progress of the NPP. Time often reveals the true value of leadership and service,” he stated.

The Chief Executive Officer of Penyman Group Limited also described Mr. Agyapong as a business mentor whose entrepreneurial success and political career have inspired many young people.

“I admire and continue to learn from your entrepreneurial skills, business acumen and ability to build successful enterprises. I appreciate his courage in politics, his commitment to empowering young people through job creation and entrepreneurship, and I value his willingness to speak candidly on matters of national importance, even when doing so may be unpopular,” he said.

Mr. Taylor, however, noted that his admiration for the former presidential aspirant does not mean he agrees with all his views, stressing that, like every individual, Mr. Agyapong has both strengths and weaknesses.

He also urged the party’s youth to refrain from attacking Mr. Agyapong or any other senior party member over differences of opinion, cautioning them against allowing themselves to be used in internal political battles.

According to him, the NPP has experienced leaders, former Presidents, former presidential aspirants, current and former national executives and respected elders who are better positioned to address internal disagreements constructively.

“Let us be guided and protect our future as well as our destiny. May the Almighty God bless the NPP and Ghana as a whole,” he added.
