The Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) has, for the second time, failed to attend a meeting with the government and the National Labour Commission, (NLC) despite being summoned to address their concerns.
The association initiated an industrial action on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, over the government’s inability to implement a new salary structure approved by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, one and a half years after a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was reached.
However, NLC’s efforts to bring CLOGSAG to the negotiating table have proven futile. The strike has crippled several government institutions, including the Registrar General’s Department and other key ministries.
Speaking to the media the Director of Administration and Human Resource at the National Labour Commission, Dr. Bernice Welbeck explained that the government has reported ongoing private engagements as the reason for their absence. She added that the case has been adjourned to Wednesday, July 17.
