GOIL PLC has been adjudged the oil marketing company of the year at the maiden Ghana downstream awards and gala night.
The award to GOIL PLC is in recognition of the company’s excellence in the oil marketing sector, its contributions to the industry and commitment to quality service.
In addition, GO Energy was adjudged the Bulk Import Distribution and Export Company of the year.
The awards were received by the Corporate Affairs Manager at Goil, Dr. Marcus Drake, Head of Health, Safety, Security & Environment, Marian Fordjour and Public Relations Manager, Robert Kyere.
Speaking to the media, Robert Kyere, said the recognition signifies GOIL’s leadership and influence in the Ghanaian oil market.It means a lot us as a company.
“It means a lot to our customers and it shows the resilience of our company over the years that our hard-work and sacrifice that we have made in the past, the trust that our customers have in us despite everything shows that at least people recognise us that is why we have handsomely been rewarded.”
Other GOIL recognitions
GOIL PLC was also specially recognised as one of the pioneers in retail of petroleum products in Ghana.
Managing Director of GO Energy, Gyamfi Amanquah, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
Simultaneously, Patrick Akorli, the immediate past Managing Director of GOIL, received recognition for his exceptional leadership and contribution in the GOIL transition.
The first Chief Operating Officer of GOIL, Alex Josiah Adzew was posthumously honoured with a special recognition award for his outstanding contribution and transformational leadership.
Former GOIL Managing Director, Yaw Agyeman Duah received recognition for his significant contributions to the sector and the establishment and expansion of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC).
“We are determined to forge ahead to be able to supply fuel to country at price that people want. This is GOIL, the largest indigenous oil marketing company and we trust in the fact that we do just don’t do quality but also we are everywhere”, Robert Kyere added.
About GHiPCON awards
The downstream awards and gala ceremony was to climax the Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHiPCON).
The GHiPCON awards aimed at celebrating outstanding achievements in the petroleum industry, acknowledging companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation.
Organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, the National Petroleum Authority in collaboration with the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC), it was also designed to promote compliance in the petroleum industry and recognize individual and institutional contributions towards the growth and sustainability of the industry.
