A rural church has a congregation of just one.
Worshipper numbers have dwindled away over the years, leaving Evan Thomas Jones as the last official member.
The farmer, 85, has attended Soar Chapel in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales, all his life.
He looks after the church with the help of his sister Mary Williams and is determined not to let it close.
But he admitted: “It is a bit lonely.
We have good friends that come here and help us out.
“I am the last member though.
Evan said that until around two years ago the church was doing two or three services in the summer, the harvest and a carol service, but gradually attendance numbers have gone down.
“It is the same everywhere, chapels and churches closing,” he said.
“People have asked me about this closing but we are trying to keep it open.
“Once they are closed they don’t reopen, that is the trouble.
“It doesn’t look so bad from the outside except the windows.
“I hope that more people will come once we spruce it up inside.”
Evan’s family has lived in the Welsh valley for hundreds of years and were married and buried at the church.
Evan said: “My father, my mother, my grandfather and my grandmother are buried in the chapel.
