Some delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, led by the Regional Minister, regional executives and executives of the Thirty-Three [33] constituencies, have declared their support for acting Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay, ahead of the election to choose national executives in June.
They have thus promised to vote massively for him to become the National Chairman at the party’s upcoming National Delegates Conference.
This came to light when Mr. Blay embarked on a three-day tour of the region to solicit for votes ahead of the Conference.
The Eastern Regional wing of the NPP, led by the Chairman, Kiston Akomeng Kissi, 1st Vice Chairman Alhaji Umar Bodinga, 2nd Vice Chairman, Barima -Twum, Jerry Osei Poku, Youth Organizer and others, joined the acting chairman’s campaign tour, during which the 33 constituency chairmen announced their support.
The delegates, who spoke at separate functions openly declared their support and promised not to disappoint him, saying, “we need to reward you since the party rewards loyal members.”
Mr. Blay met the constituency executives at Krobo Odumase Asamankese, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, Akim Oda, and Bunso, which comprises Krobo Block, Asamankese Zone, Akyem Enclaves, Kwahu Block and Koforidua Zone.
The constituency executives said they are impressed with Mr. Blay’s contribution towards the growth of the party, his vision for the party and Ghana, his track record, international contacts and capabilities to attract floating voters.
Mr. Freddie Blay admonished the delegates to explain the government’s policies and interventions to members at the grassroots.
He said this will enable them to take full advantage of those policies to improve their standard of living.
According to him, the government has put in place sound policies that will be implemented to benefit the masses.
He said the Government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has begun fulfilling its campaign promises, and will equitably share the national resources among the people.
Mr. Blay said the party has competent and experienced men and women, who are capable of prudently managing the resources to ensure rapid economic growth and development.
Mr. Freddie Blay gave the assurance that the government would provide the needed incentives and regulatory framework, to enable the establishment of factories that will process local resources into finished products to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
The election is to take place between 15th to 17th June, 2018.
