One of the purported pictures of investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas that made rounds on the internet last week is of a Dutch-Brazilian model.
The model, Patrick Marcelino, is upset by this and he believes Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is behind it all.
He described it as “identity theft” in a rant on video.
It is unclear if Patrick Marcelino’s picture, among others, were released by Kennedy Agyapong.
The pictures circulating were clearly of different men. The one thing they had in common were dreadlocks.
But the MP is upset with Anas and his methods, and he threatened to release photos he claimed were of the undercover journalist.
Anas’ real identity is not known to the public.
It is for this reason Patrick Marcelino is perhaps blaming Kennedy Agyapong.
In his video, he said his life and career were now under threat.
“Listen, I’ve never been to Ghana. How? I’m not affiliated to no political party… right now my whole career is in danger. I’m about to make some big steps and these guys are just freaking around with my pictures.”
He also suggested he may take legal action against Kennedy Agyapong.
“…and Kennedy, this will not be without any [repurcurtions], I will take the legal steps that will have to be taken to set this thing right,” Patrick Marcelino stated.
Countdown to June 6
Anas is in the spotlight ahead of his is documentary expose of Ghana football.
The documentary is set to be premiered in Accra on June 6 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Details of the documentary’s content first emerged back in April.
Later on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, hinted that some major players in Ghana football would be captured in the exposé.
Anticipation for the Anas’ documentary heightened when President Nana Akufo-Addo filed a complaint at the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service after a security briefing on the upcoming expose.
The expose implicated President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantaky, in alleged corruption.
Kwesi Nyantakyi is said to have used the name of the President, the Vice President and other senior officers of the government to collect money and lure supposed foreign investors interested in establishing businesses in Ghana.
More officials are expected to fall when the full documentary is screened.
