Education Consultant, Kofi Asare, has been elected by the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition, GNECC to chair its Executive Council.
GNECC, a civil society of network of non-governmental organizations, professional groups, education research institutions and practitioners promoting the right to quality education for all Ghanaian children, overwhelmingly elected him at its Annual General Meeting held on the 14th December, 2018, at the Institute of Local Governance Studies in Accra.
Mr. Dorothy Konadu, a former Education Adviser of Actionaid Ghana, was also elected as Vice Chairperson, while Mr. Rex Eleblu, a Finance Consultant, was selected Treasurer of the Coalition.
Mr. Kofi Asare takes over from Bright Appiah who served from 2008. Mr. Asare has 16 years’ experience working with local, national and International agencies to promote quality public education.
The new 15-member Executive Council was sworn in by Mrs. Florence Bobi, a former Director of Education and Board Member of GIMPA.
The 15-member Executive Council includes Mike Owusu, Nana Kwaku Nketsia, Mrs. Martha Jonah, Mr. Haruna Abedi, Benjamin Lartey, Mrs. Marian Fynn, Mr. Gaskin Dassah, Mr. Joseph Homadzi, Mr. Frank Awuku, Mr. Bonaventure Mwinnasung, Mr. Mark Nabia and Ms. Veronica Dzeagu.
GNECC is a membership based network with over 200 members including child rights organizations, disability organizations, international non-governmental organizations, teacher unions, retired educationists, faith-based organizations and youth organizations.
Its mission is to influence policy towards providing equal educational opportunities for all children irrespective of their economic, social, religious, geographical background or disability.
They believe every child has a right to quality, relevant and enjoyable education.
